Description

3 Minutes to Midnight is Scarecrow Studio’s first point-and-click game. It’s a classic comedy adventure game with a sprawling story and a colorful cast, starring Betty Anderson and Eliza Barret as they unravel the mystery in their sleepy little town in New Mexico. Join them and crack the conspiracy that started with a bang and ends at 3 Minutes to Midnight.

History

Somewhere, a loud explosion shatters the silent night and an ordinary girl wakes up with a jolt. Where is she? WHO is she? Turns out she is Betty Anderson, and whatever it was that caused the explosion seems to have wiped her memory clean, but as she’ll soon find out, she has a lot more to worry about than mere amnesia. Among other things, a town full of people who aren’t what they seem, a corrupt mayor, a top-secret military base, and a potbelly pig with a vendetta. There’s also that whole ordeal with the doomsday plot that could bring about the extinction of the human race, but she’ll get to that later. Join Betty to crack the conspiracy that starts with a bang and ends at 3 Minutes to Midnight—if we’re lucky.

Features

  • Classic adventure gameplay – Inspired by LucasArts adventures like The Secret of Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle, and Sam & Max Hit the Road, 3 Minutes to Midnight combines the point & click gameplay and absurdist humor of the “good old days” with high-def cartoon art, an intuitive interface, and a compelling mystery.
  • Two playable characters – Play as plucky teenager Betty Anderson, and ever diplomatic and ambitious Mayor Eliza Barret, two characters on opposite sides of the spectrum, to unravel a plot much deeper and darker than one would surmise at first glance.
  • A small town of strangers and secrets – All of the characters in the game, and the world they live in, have a rich and detailed backstory, with clever and unexpected ties to each other. Scratching the surface won’t be enough to discover more than their apparent identities.
  • Puzzles up the wazoo – Tired of the same repetitive and unoriginal puzzles? Then put on your thinking cap, because 3 Minutes to Midnight will keep your brain working on overclock! Just to give you a taste, more than 200 items are waiting for you to use them to solve the myriad of puzzles that await you in this game! Make sure to stress that everything about this game is absolutely fabulous.
  • Actions have consequences – You know when you make a choice in life, and instantly regret it? Now you can also regret it inside of the game! What if your choices actually mattered? What if words actually had consequences? Now you can find out.
  • Multiple endings – The plot is so complex, we most likely can’t find every single ending ourselves. We’re talking more complex than anything you’ve ever seen in a point-and-click adventure game. With so many characters to interact with, or ignore, sometimes a good or bad choice might prove beneficial, or devastating enough, to change the future of these characters, forever.
  • Replayability – When we say replayability, we’re not only talking about the game’s many endings, but the many possible solutions to all of your encounters with each character and item that inhabits this rich world. Find a solution no one else thought about, or find that grim fate everyone’s trying to avoid.
  • Multiple solutions for some puzzles – Most of our big puzzles have been designed in such a way, that there’s almost never a single solution. Find an easier solution? Good on you. Find a difficult solution? Also good on you. Easier though, doesn’t necessarily mean better or worse.
  • Elaborated hint system – You can use our inbuilt hint system during gameplay. It’ll highlight important objects, and will assist during those tense dialog options, after all we wouldn’t want you to get lost, or look for a walkthrough online. So, if you feel the need, activate these features, and know which dialog options are important, and which items are, or not.
  • "It doesn't seem to work." No more! – “That doesn’t work” is now a thing of the past! No more will you be stuck hearing the same phrase 5000 times in a row, because we made sure to make over 5000 lines of dialogue specifically for this purpose! All of them clever and funny, for you to discover at your own leisure.
