E3 - 2018 | 1. Preparations (Thread)
I am happy to announce that Scarecrow Studio’s presence for the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2018 has been officially confirmed. I have to tell you people, this was the easy step – renting the exhibit space – now we have to get the “exhibit” ready for it.
Did you know that when you rent a space (booth) at the convention center, it does not include anything else but the empty space? (Not even the carpet!) Well we did not know that. So, apart from paying the big bucks for that beautiful empty space, now we will have to spend some more trying to fill it with something.
So, what do we need to do?
- Find an exhibit to rent, size 10×20, customized, and make it look as cool as the game we are introducing: “3 Minutes to Midnight”;
- Book flights to get us to L.A;
- Book accommodation for our team for those days;
- Rent a van to move around.
What will we bring to the show?
Me, Myself and I, creator of the game… (Okay, okay, nobody cares, I get it.)…
Anyway, let’s mention the more important stuff:
- Our first playable demo;
- A first look at all the goodies for our Kickstarter campaign, which are going to be available to all our backers. (The campaign will happen at some point around September.);
- Exclusive content that you will not see anywhere else but at the E3;
- Cookies and refreshments for everyone!!! (*) (So, even if you don’t like point-and-click adventure games, drop by, just because of the free-food).
One Important piece of ADVICE for newcomers to the show as Exhibitors:
- After you get the confirmation for the E3, a lot of companies (and scammers) will have access to your contact details. So many offers will fill your inbox with ‘very tempting’ looking subjects such as: “Book your accommodation now!”, “Housing bureaus”, “Competitive rates”, “Special for E3 Exhibitors”, “Champagne for everyone”, etc. … I am sure you get the idea; Please note that 90% of them are scammers;
- Plan everything ahead. It is a big event. A lot of people are coming, therefore planes, hotels, cars, exhibits, … all those things to rent or buy will disappear sooner than you might think.
Well, this is officially my first post of the series “Our presence in the E3”. I will keep you updated on our humble steps into this giant event, where we will, in fact, officially present Betty Anderson, as the unwilling hero of our game “3 Minutes to Midnight”.
So, if you happen to be in Los Angeles in June, from the 12th until the 14th, and you have nothing else to do in the city of sin (oh wait … that is Las Vegas, right? Ouch, some of my coworkers are going to be disappointed.), come to see us. We are going to be in the South Pavilion – Stand 2163. (Unfortunately, I can’t share any more details with you for the moment without infringing non-disclosure agreements).
